TOURISM OPERATIONS
Buksi
A multi-channel booking back office for boat-tour operators — every OTA booking lands in one place, capacity is managed from one timetable, and check-ins work offline on the quay.
01 / THE CHALLENGE
One boat, six sales channels, zero shared systems
A Malta boat-tour operator sells the same departures through GetYourGuide, Viator, Bokun, Airbnb and more — each with its own extranet, its own confirmation emails and its own idea of remaining capacity. Staff were left reconciling channels by hand, with every mismatch a potential double-booking on a boat with fixed seats.
And the day itself happens on a quay: checking passengers in from a phone, on patchy mobile signal, minutes before departure. Software that needs a stable connection is software that fails exactly when it matters.
02 / THE SOLUTION
Every channel in, one timetable out
Buksi pulls every booking into one operational view automatically. A dedicated service reads each operator’s booking mailbox and parses confirmations, changes and cancellations from GetYourGuide, Bokun, Airbnb and Manawa; direct API integrations go deeper — Buksi serves GetYourGuide’s availability, reservation and cancellation calls live from its own schedules, and pushes closeouts to Bokun so channels stop selling what no longer exists.
The day runs from a “Today’s Bookings” screen grouped by departure: one tap to check in, mark a no-show or reschedule — built as an installable app that keeps working offline and syncs status changes when signal returns. Around it sit automated customer emails (reminders, weather cancellations, review requests), per-channel revenue reporting, role-based permissions with a full audit log, and even live webcams of the ferry terminals for pre-departure sea checks.
03 / THE OUTCOME
Where it landed.
- Runs day-to-day operations for Maltese operators including Comino Land Charters and Comino Parasailing.
- Bookings from every sales channel arrive in one system automatically — no more copying between extranets and spreadsheets.
- Capacity is managed from a single timetable, with live availability served to GetYourGuide and closeouts pushed to Bokun.
- Check-in keeps working with no signal on the quay — status changes queue and sync automatically.
